About Cynthia

Cynthia Baker, MA

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz in 1994 and attained my Hypnotherapist Certification in 2003 from Twin Lakes College of the Healing Arts in Santa Cruz, California. I later obtained certification in Medical Hypnotherapy from the Center for Hypnotherapy in Oakland and additional training in Medical Hypnosis from Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy.

I received a Master's degree in Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saybrook University in San Francisco in 2008. I have incorporated hypnotherapy into my counseling work since that time, and I became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Lic. #MFT85465) in 2014. I worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern at Family Service Agency of the Central Coast and in private practice, where I counseled people from many different walks of life with a wide variety of goals. During my MFT traineeship, I worked with women overcoming domestic violence and sexual abuse at Women's Crisis Support~Defensa de Mujeres (now Monarch Services) in Santa Cruz. I more recently began offering Life Purpose Coaching after  learning life coaching skills from many of the masters in the field and becoming certified as a Dream Coach (a method of life coaching that helps people make their dreams a reality). Combining hypnotherapy, counseling and life coaching tools has led to satisfying results for my clients and has been a rich and rewarding journey for me personally.
