What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy utilizes naturally occurring trance states characterized by relaxed, focused attention. It provides a way of accessing deeper parts of ourselves than are ordinarily available to us. With it, you can harness the power of your mind to achieve your goals. 

Hypnotherapy can allow us to gain clarity, insight, and a deeper connection with ourselves. The experience can be profoundly healing and can be used to create more beneficial mental, emotional, and behavioral patterns. Client-centered hypnotherapy is a collaboration in which each session is tailored to the individual’s goals, perspective, wisdom, and comfort.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is deeply relaxing and characterized by heightened attention, imagination and receptivity. It allows you to experience feelings, thoughts, images, and memories with more clarity and absorption. 

Have you ever been so absorbed in something that you lost track of time? That is the light trance state we go into naturally every day. It is all that is necessary for successful hypnotherapy. A deeper trance feels similar to the state that occurs just before drifting off to sleep. 


Is it safe?

People sometimes fear losing control in hypnosis due to things they have seen on television, movies or in stage hypnosis. The media's portrayal of hypnosis is often sensationalized for the purposes of entertainment. Individuals who participate in stage hypnotism are doing so because they want to be part of the show. One cannot be hypnotized against his or her will because entering a trance requires participation and intention. An individual can choose to come out of trance at any time.

Although the client maintains full awareness during hypnosis, as with any healing modality, it is important to work with a practitioner with whom trust can be established.
